Our newborn blanket collection features luxury merino wool and cashmere baby blankets that are so soft that you’ll never want those special new baby cuddles to end.
Our blanket collection is perfect for both baby boys and baby girls, so you don’t need to wait for a gender reveal to choose the perfect new baby gift. The cream colours of our premium cashmere baby blankets make for a timeless choice, and they can be handed down as your family grows.
If you’re looking for a beautiful cream or neutral cashmere baby blanket for your nursery, you’ll find everything you need at Willow and Cole. One of our soft baby blankets will be the perfect addition to your nursing chair, and is the ideal accessory to include in all of your milestone photos during baby’s first year.
Our range of 100% cashmere baby blankets come in either knitted ivory or cable knit marl grey with our equally stunning cashmere merino wool mix blanket being finished in ivory all packaged in our signature Willow and Cole Giftbox for that perfect new baby gift.
Cashmere is the softest natural fibre you can put against a newborn’s skin. It is also the one most often diluted, blended down or sold by weight rather than grade.
This is what we set out to make.
Our newborn blanket collection features luxury merino wool and cashmere baby blankets so soft you will never want those first cuddles to end. Every piece is designed in house by our London team and knitted from fine Mongolian cashmere, chosen for how gently it sits against delicate skin.
Softness comes down to fibre diameter. Cashmere measures between 12 and 19 microns, finer than merino and far finer than standard wool. Nothing scratches. Nothing irritates.
Cashmere breathes as well. It holds warmth through winter and releases heat in summer, so your baby stays comfortable across the seasons rather than overheating. A good cashmere baby blanket earns its place all year, not one quarter of it.
Three designs, each with a different job.
Our Ivory Cashmere Baby Blanket is knitted in 100% Mongolian cashmere at 90 x 90 cm. The square shape suits cot top layering, floor time and pram trips alike. It is our most reviewed blanket, and deservedly so.
Our Cashmere Cable Knit Blanket brings texture to the nursery. Also 100% cashmere, finished at 75 x 100 cm in cloud grey, with a traditional cable pattern knitted right through.
Our Merino Wool Baby Blanket blends 90% superfine merino with 10% pure cashmere. At 70 x 100 cm in a subtle oat hue with a stitch detail border, it handles daily pram use and takes a gentle cold machine wash.
The collection works for baby boys and baby girls, so you need not wait for a gender reveal to choose the right present. Our cream and neutral tones sit beautifully in any nursery and date slowly. Parents hand these blankets down as their families grow.
Looking for a cream or neutral cashmere baby blanket for the nursery? You will find everything you need here. One of ours will suit your nursing chair perfectly and earn a place in every milestone photo of the first year.
Every cashmere baby blanket arrives wrapped in tissue inside our signature Willow and Cole gift box, finished with satin ribbon and your own personalised message card. No wrapping needed at your end. Order before 1pm for next day delivery, with free UK delivery on orders over £50.
Caring for cashmere is simple. Hand wash cool with a wool detergent, press the water out and lay flat to dry. Looked after properly, a cashmere baby blanket outlasts the nursery and becomes the keepsake passed to the next baby in the family.
Hand wash only, in cool water, with a detergent made for wool or cashmere. Ordinary biological detergent contains enzymes that break down protein fibres and will damage cashmere over time.
Do not wring or hang the blanket, as wet cashmere stretches under its own weight. Press the water out gently, then lay it flat to dry away from radiators and direct sunlight. Never tumble dry.
Wash sparingly. Cashmere is naturally odour resistant and airing between uses is usually enough. Some pilling in the first few weeks is normal as shorter fibres work loose; a cashmere comb removes it and the blanket settles after that.
Our Merino Wool Baby Blanket is more forgiving. The merino content means it tolerates a cold gentle machine wash, dried flat.
Yes. How a fibre feels against skin comes down to its diameter, measured in microns. Anything under roughly 20 microns sits below the threshold at which wool causes a prickle. Cashmere measures 12 to 19 microns, finer than merino at 17.5 to 24 microns and far finer than standard wool at 25 and above. Our blankets are knitted from Mongolian cashmere at the fine end of that scale.
Cashmere is also naturally breathable and temperature regulating. It holds warmth without trapping heat, so your baby stays comfortable across the seasons rather than overheating.
Wool sensitivity is uncommon but it does exist. If your baby has diagnosed eczema or a known wool allergy, speak to your health visitor or GP before use.
This is dependent on where you plan to use it. Around 70 x 100 cm suits a pram, car seat or Moses basket. A 90 x 90 cm square works well for cot top layering, floor time and cuddles, and stays useful into toddlerhood.
Our Merino Wool Baby Blanket is 70 x 100 cm. Our Cashmere Cable Knit Blanket is 75 x 100 cm. Our Ivory Cashmere Baby Blanket is 90 x 90 cm.
For cot use, follow safer sleep guidance. The Lullaby Trust advises the feet to foot position, with baby’s feet at the bottom of the cot and blankets tucked in securely no higher than shoulder height so their head cannot become covered. Use lightweight blankets rather than thick or padded ones, and remember one blanket doubled over counts as two.
